A quintessential Duxbury afternoon – Croquet on the lawn of King Caesar

Sip on a signature cocktail crafted by the 1803 Winsor House Inn, enjoy food by the renowned The Catered Affair, and an oyster bar provided by Island Creek Oysters Lounge on decadent furniture provided by Ethan Allen. Then, challenge your friends in a game – all with stunning views of Duxbury Bay!

More than 200 people will gather on the lawn of the King Caesar House for one of Duxbury’s most popular summer events. Games are run by Croquet Hall of Fame member, Bob Kroeger. Awards are given for tournament Team Winners, Shoot Out Competition, and Best Dressed. Come dressed in your “Creative Whites”!

New this year – in collaboration with the Duxbury Art Association, the Croquet Tournament will feature an art exhibit and wet paint demonstrations to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Duxbury Art Association.

Guests can play in the tournament or enjoy the festivities as spectators. Best of all, support the preservation and educational activities of the DRHS. Tickets include access to games, events, food, and 2 drink tickets (cash bar available). This event is “rain or shine” and tickets are non-refundable.

All proceeds from this event go to support the Duxbury Rural and Historical Society. Thank you for your generosity in this fundraiser!

  1. Artist Bio: Jenny Kelley received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design, which she attended on a full merit scholarship.  Kelley specializes in floral still life and she is passionate about painting from life observation. Kelley’s still life paintings explore the contrast between the enduring qualities of the painted image and the transient beauty of flowers.  In painting flowers from life, Kelley has become particularly aware of the intensity of a single moment, and she aims to evoke some of the wonder of the feeling of a fragile instant in her work.  An award-winning artist, Kelley is a member of the Copley Society of Art and a Signature Member of American Women Artists.  Her work has been shown in numerous prestigious shows and competitions across the country.

  1. Artist Bio: Dianne Panarelli Miller is an award winning Boston-based “Plein Air Painter” of color and light; a signature member of the New England Plein Air Painters; and a “Copley Master”. Her approach combines the classic atelier training of the “Boston School”, with a mastery of technique of her own personal style expressed through the harmony of color and design. Dianne’s versatile style allows her to capture her subjects with sensitivity and detail. Frequently hired to paint live at weddings and events, her work can be seen all over the country.
