Duxbury 2020 Kick Off Event
There will be fun, door prizes, cash bar, appetizers as well as silent and LIVE auctions featuring Duxbury memorabilia and historic adventures for friends and family. On a spring evening overlooking Duxbury Bay all are invited to share in informal storytelling about the historic traditions of our town – bid on a Pilgrim-era historic adventure or select from Duxbury memorabilia in both LIVE and Silent Auctions.
J.L. Rose, Duxbury resident, and author of recently released historic novel “Before the Mayflower” is the featured speaker of the evening sharing insight into the courage and determination of the Mayflower passengers before they embarked on the voyage.
Proceeds from the event will support Duxbury 2020 signature projects including rededication of the Myles Standish Monument, opening of Green’s Harbor Path, and commemorative publication “Duxbury – Our Pilgrim Story – a 2020 Perspective” featuring authors Monty Healy, Tony Kelso, Alicia Williams, Sheila Lynch-Benttinen, Carolyn Ravenscroft, Paula Peters, Stephen O’Neil, Muriel Cushing, George DeLano, Tom McCarthy, Patrick Browne, along with Jim and Peg Baker.
The Alden House Historic Site, Duxbury’s 2020 Visitor Center, will feature a 2019 and 2020 season of tours, exhibits and events starting in June. Duxbury 2020 is actively recruiting volunteers to assist at the Alden House and if of interest to you contact Desiree Mobed, Executive Director. The Alden House is on the Plymouth 400 sponsored “1620 Legacy Trail” representing authentic Pilgrim sites along with other locations from Provincetown to Boston.
