Silhouette Portraits For Your Family

Silhouette Portraits

A Fundraiser for the Duxbury Rural & Historical Society

Saturday, April 28, 2018

Hand cut by mother-daughter artists Jean and Marcella Comerford, these lovely portraits make wonderful gifts and precious mementos. All work is done free-hand, only takes a few minutes, and wiggly little ones are welcome! Extremely popular for families with children or grandchildren, but adults are welcome too: silhouettes are wonderful to commemorate a special moment, engagement, expecting mother and more. A very special keepsake and ideal for gift-giving just in time for Mother’s Day!

By appointment: 9 am – 4 pm

Location: Nathaniel Winsor Jr. House, 479 Washington Street, Duxbury

Reservations required and secured with a non-refundable $35 deposit, which includes your first silhouette. One reservation is required for each sitter. Copies of the silhouette, frames and mats will be available for purchase on the day of your appointment at an additional charge.

20% of the proceeds of this event go to support the Duxbury Rural & Historical Society.

To make your reservation, click on one of the two links below (one link for each available artist). We recommend that you make all your reservations with the same artist as their individual styles vary slightly. Any questions: please call our office at 781-934-6106 and our staff will help you.

History of Silhouettes:

Silhouettes date back to the 1500’s and were extremely popular in the 1800’s as an affordable way to share an image of a loved one before the advent of photography.  To this day, people still appreciate the art of the silhouette, and its artisan reminder of history.
