Make a May Basket at the Nathaniel Winsor Jr. House

Save event to calendar

“I hung this basket, knocked and ran, and you may catch me if you can.”

Did you know that in the 1800s there was a town tradition of surprising your neighbors with a basket of flowers on May 1? This was considered a fun and mischievous way to welcome spring. Come to the Nathaniel Winsor Jr. House on Saturday, April 29, to participate in reviving this community tradition.

Who will you make smile with a note and some flowers?

Workshops and instruction will begin at 11am and 1pm, however drop-ins are also welcome. All materials provided ~ free and open to the pubic!

This event is being presented in conjunction with the day-long Duxbury Community Collaborative event, “Out to See Duxbury.” See more details about the day on the flyers below.

The DRHS is very grateful to our event sponsor, Consider the Lilies, for their generous donation of flowers for the baskets!
