Bon Voyage to Museum Collections Manager Melanie Correia

While thrilled for Melanie personally, I am sad on behalf of the DRHS to report that Mel will be returning to her roots at the New Bedford Whaling Museum in the newly created full time role of Exhibitions Manager.

Mel joined DRHS in 2016, and has continued the work of increasing our overall professionalism and ensuring “best practices” management of our collections and museum operations. In her role as the lead for the museum houses, Mel has done amazing work both by herself and in concert with Erin and Carolyn in the reinterpreting of many aspects of the Museums, curating our permanent and temporary exhibits, worked diligently towards the acquisition of relevant new artifacts for our collections, and has in general contributed wonderful things to the DRHS both with respect to her specific role as curator and museum manager, and as a consummate team player as a member of our staff. Mel has arranged for her last day will be June 25, thankfully allowing some extra time to prepare for a smooth transition.

While we will miss her tremendously, we recognize the career opportunity this represents and know you will join me, the Trustees and the rest of the staff in wishing Mel the best of luck and success in her new role.
