In partnership with Duxbury’s Historic Preservation Day, the Nathaniel Winsor, Jr House will be open to the public free of charge from 10am-11am. Nathaniel Winsor Jr. House is located at 479 Washington Street.

Duxbury’s historic preservation organizations are combining efforts and expertise to offer a special Duxbury Historic Preservation Day with talks, visits, and tours of important historic sites in town. The keynote speaker is Chris Skelly, President of Skelly Preservation Services, and former Director of Local Government Programs at the Massachusetts Historical Commission.

Chris’s talk will address the advantages of embracing architectural preservation and establishing local historic districts. In Duxbury, there are thirteen local historic districts with oversight provided by the Local Historic District Commission, chaired by Pam Smith, AIA.

Chris Skelly is a seasoned historic preservationist and public planner with over 25 years’ experience and a deep passion for how historic buildings can benefit communities and the places we call home.

Open Houses will be held from 10AM to 11AM by partner organizations for “Duxbury Historic Preservation Day” including the Town of Duxbury, Duxbury Historic Commission, Duxbury Rural & Historical Society, Alden House Museum, and Tarkiln Community Center.
