This collection of photographs is of commanders from the local chapter of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, an organization founded in 1881 that eventually succeeded the G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic). Because Myles Standish was the first military leader of the Pilgrims, it is not surprising that the local SUVCW chose to use his name in their title. A number of the commanders pictured are Pilgrim descendants.

This collection of photographs is from the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, which succeeded the G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic) organization in 1881.
