In 1851, Capt. George Prior and his wife, Caroline Winsor, built their beautiful Italianate-style residence at 526 Washington Street. Their house demonstrates that not all suffered due to the loss of Duxbury’s shipbuilding. Later occupants of the house also thrived in a town reinventing itself.
