Ongoing Art Exhibit – Portraits of Duxbury

Artists Cephas Thompson and his son, Cephas G. Thompson, immortalized Duxbury’s residents in the 1830s during the height of the town’s shipbuilding era. For the first time, many of the Thompsons’ portraits are on display in the same gallery in our new exhibition Portraits of Duxbury: The Art of Cephas and Cephas G. Thompson, 1826-1833. Accompanying the artwork are objects from our collection that once belonged to the sitters

Portraits of Duxbury invites you to delve into the past, discover the stories behind the faces, and gain a deeper understanding of our town’s remarkable history, all while experiencing the beautiful artwork of the Thompsons.

Please come experience the exhibit and enjoy our porch overlooking beautiful Duxbury Bay.  No registration necessary.
